The Government of Canada is launching the new Strategic Response Fund (SRF) to help Canada respond to a rapidly changing global economy marked by trade disruptions, supply chain volatility and intensifying international competition. The SRF is designed to drive Canada's industrial transformation and develop our long-term industrial capabilities to build economic resilience. This includes investing in opportunities to diversify trade beyond the U.S., strengthening domestic production, developing new value-added products, improving productivity and reinforcing supply chains.    The SRF will concentrate on strategic sectors disproportionately exposed to U.S. tariffs and global trade risks, such as automotives, steel and aluminum. It will also have flexibility to intervene in other high-value sectors where timely federal action is critical to maintaining investment and capacity in Canada.    The SRF builds on the mandate of the Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF), maintaining support for industrial innovation while expanding its focus to include responsive, targeted investment to trade-exposed sectors.
